apple chips

I put two yummy fresh red apples into the food processor.

I sliced them super thin. {the food processor did...i love mr. fp.}

I placed them on a lightly greased baking pan.

I baked them for 1 hour at 200 degrees, and it wasn't enough.
So I cranked up the heat to 350 degrees and baked them for another 15 minutes.

I still need to figure out a good baking time and temp.
The Food Network magazine recommended 200 degrees for 1 hour.

Have you ever made apple chips?

The kids love them just like this, but I want to try again.

 I want mine a little more crispy!

I appreciate any ideas you have...leave them in the comments for me :)

  2. You might have to try a mandoline slicer thing, they slice them super super thin. The thinner the more crispy they tend to be. Then again, yours look pretty darn thin! I usually do mine in a dehydrator overnight. Speaking of that, I'm putting some in today while I work up my bushel+ of apples.

  3. Yum, I'm going to try these...I'll let you know how the turn out....and I think I got rid of my mandoline slicer..or maybe it is packed in one of my boxes in the washhouse of extra kitchen stuff..not going to look for it! I'll improvise with my food processor. Thanks for the idea :)

  4. I've never made them, but yours look good!! I would think 350 would be about right...maybe just up the temp, but keep the time...like 350 for 1 hour?? I don't know.

    Hope you're having a great day!!♥

  8. I would personally do 350 for about 30 minutes, check on them and then probably 20 minutes more
