Did you know...

this week is

National Handwashing Awareness Week

I think I am bit over-the-top when it comes to hand washing and general hand cleaning.

I am a germ-a-phobe and I am okay with it!!

Gary and I have dry itchy and cracking hands all year long, but they are worse in the winter.  We wash our hands all the time.  With small kids I think it is completely normal.

*We sanitize the kids hands when they get in the car after school.
*When we get out of the car and go into the house we wash hands as soon as we get into the house.
*We wash hands before meals and snacks
*We help the kids wash their hands after they use the potty.

Hand washing is so important....so we try to make it fun by asking Layla to sing songs while she washes.  And since Hayden isn't really into singing, we ask him to make lots of bubbles.  He handles that task very well.  He also makes a huge mess while washing, but oh well.  We don't mind...we just want healthy and clean kids.

And like Henry says, only you are are responsible for giving yourself the flu or flu like symptoms.

  4. Your awesome. Great post! I agree totally that washing your hands can completely change your chances of getting sick. If it helps in any way, than why the heck not.

  5. I'm a habitual hand-washer too. I wash frequently and use hand sanitizer when I can't wash my hands. I make Isaiah do the same. It is really important, especially this time of year!!
