teacher gifts

Our day turned out a little differently than I planned.  Hayden and I were going to meet friends for lunch, but he was feeling terrible this morning.  Poor guy, he sneezed half a million times and I think I wiped his nose a bazillion times.  So, we stayed home and rested.

Tomorrow is Hayden's last day of preschool before Christmas break.  He will be in the Christmas program and then we will have a birthday party for Jesus!  I think staying home today made him much better, and I hope we don't miss the festivities tomorrow. I am hoping he feels much better in the morning!!

Since we were at home all day I got some teachers gifts made. I usually make cookies and cupcakes for the kids teachers, but I was feeling salty this year.
I ended up making my favorite winter snack...Chex mix...aka...Trash!

I started by washing and drying this clear, shatterproof, resealable container.  I know teachers always need another container for one reason or another in the classroom.

Then I added a bow....while I was baking this recipe.

Charlie Brown's Traditional Party Mix

1/2 a stick of butter
1 1/4 teaspoons season salt
4 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
8 cups of Chex brand cereal (corn, rice, or wheat)
1 cup peanuts
1 cup pretzel sticks
1 bag of chili cheese Frito's

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

In a open roasting pan melt butter in oven. Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce. Gradually add cereals, nuts and pretzels. Stir until all pieces are evenly coated. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on absorbent paper to cool. Add Frito's to the mix. Store in airtight container.

This is pre Frito's....I don't bake them.

While waiting for the oven timer to go off every 15 minutes I decided to make tags for the gifts.

Then I added the Frito's and ate a ton too.

How cute!!  And such an inexpensive and delicious teacher gift.
