I have so many thoughts running through my head right now. I hope I can express myself without being to scatter-brained.
I have my own opinions and so do you. Does that mean that because you don't agree with me we can't be friends? I think it is wonderful to have different opinions. It makes us who we are. I have worked for 34 years to find myself, and I happen to like who I am. What you see is what you get with me.
It is lightly raining tonight. It is overcast and I love it! My kids went right to sleep. I hope we don't get crazy storms though...I can do without thunder. I love following our local weather guy on twitter.
My dogs come in the house and sleep in our room on their beds on the floor. I know tons of people that don't let their dogs in the house. I bought a good vacuum for a reason. I use it all the time. I love my pups and don't want them out in the rain or heat. Our puppies are sometimes a huge pain, but we love them like they are our kids. So technically we have 4 kids. But if two of the furry ones drive us nuts we can put them out back for a few hours!
My kids watch TV. Some parents don't let their kids watch TV. You may be one of those parents and I am ok with that. I happen to love TV. I usually have a TV on in my house all day long. It may be on the news, a kid show, a music channel. Whatever. My kids watch a ton of TV. I'm NOT ashamed of it. Educational TV {Nick Jr., PBSKids, Disney Jr, I may be missing some} shows have aided in my kids learning from a young age. My kids play and watch and play and watch. There are some shows that aren't allowed in our house...Spongebob...no way! I remember when Layla was 6 months old, I'd lay her in front of the TV. She'd listen to Dora The Explorer. She loved it! Hayden loved Elmo at around 8 months old. I know some studies say babies shouldn't watch TV before age 2. Oh well, mine did and they are happy healthy 5 and 2 year olds.
I have been potty training Hayden "hardcore" since last Thursday. He is doing great. I know we will have good days and bad days. I'm good with it! Today was the first day he did his #2 business on the potty. The other days he either did it in his pants or on the floor. My life is so glamorous right? He is doing so well and he is even doing a great job with it at school. I am so proud. I think that potty training has to be done when the child is ready. People have been asking me when Hayden will FINALLY be potty trained. I think this is rude. He'll be potty trained before kindergarten...the end ;) And he is only 2 1/2 years old for Pete's sake.
We don't drink sodas in our family. Layla and Hayden have each tasted soda and didn't like it. The kids drink milk, water, natural juices of all kids, and lemonade. I hope we can make this last as long as possible. The only time I have a soda is with an occasional mixed drink. I do however randomly enjoy a Dr. Pepper, but I bet it is once or twice a year.
I feel very strongly about my kids getting sleep. The kids both usually go to bed between 7:00-7:30pm. They usually wake up around 7:00am. Layla has to get up earlier because of school. She has to be at school around 7:40am and doesn't get out until 3:00pm. That is a LONG day for a 5 year old. In my opinion sleep is as important as food. Sleep is fuel. Well rested kids are typically easier to get along with. I think our kids thrive on our routine and they know what is expected, so it works for us. I'm sure the schedule will change as they get older, but for now we are good.
