I have been craving candy corn lately.
I am so behind on laundry this week. Camping last weekend and a sick boy have me really behind. I have never been so scared of the laundry room. I'm afraid if I go in I may never make it out. Layla even commented on how she'd never seen our laundry stacked that high.
We have been trying to eat healthy lately and I really miss cooking and eating casseroles.
Lasagna and chicken spaghetti sound amazing right now.
Neither one of the kids had ever been to the emergency room until Layla hurt her eyebrow recently and then of course last Saturday Hayden went. I'm hoping we don't make a habit of this. Once we walked in on Saturday night Hayden said, "Mommy I like this place!" They were really sweet to Layla and Hayden when we went, but I'm hopeful we won't need their services for awhile.
Oh my word. The crazy Sarah girl on The Real Housewives of OC last night. I DVR'd it. I have no words. She's lost her mind! My favorite line of the night, "Where did she park her space-ship!" Baahhhh!
I love Zoe's Kitchen. I went one night recently with a friend from high school and after that I was hooked. I had a dream about the salad I ate that night. It's their Tossed Greek Salad, but my favorite thing there is the Hibiscus tea.
It is so good. I have been searching for Hibiscus tea to brew at home. I have looked at a few grocery stores, but haven't had any luck. If you see it, let me know where I can get my hands on some!
Hayden's speech has changed so much in the last few weeks. I've noticed it and so has Gary. I didn't think much of it until his teacher also commented on it. He is using bigger words and talking so much clearer. He sounds like a little man.
One of Layla's friends was wearing a pair of glasses at school this week. Layla has been begging for me to get her a pair of fake glasses. Well, I have a HUGE stash of glasses from back before I had kids. I worked in an Optometrists office. I wore glasses for fun and acquired quite a collection. Layla's face lit up when she saw them. She tried on each and every pair. These are the cutest on her, but clearly they are too large. We had fun playing around!
And then Hayden joined in...
Such a goof!
Did you have a pen pal as a kid? I did and I loved writing her letters. It is probably pretty rare to have a snail mail pen pal these days with email and texting, but Layla has one. She is thrilled to be able to write letters to her friend in Arizona. I think it is the cutest thing. I hope their friendship grows and maybe one day they can meet in real life! I'd love to meet her Momma, she is one of my favorite blog/twitter friends. The four of us would have a fun time for sure!
Have a great Thursday!
I should take a picture of my mountain of laundry...I bet you would feel better about your's if you saw how big mine was:) Spring break has made me lazy! I folded three loads yesterday and there are at least three more to go today! None of my boys have been to the ER, but we have made more than one emergency trip to the pediatricians' office...scary!
ReplyDeleteI hope yall stay out of the ER too! I was channeling you this week and getting my laundry done regularly, which is rare, so it is funny you are behind. Well, not funny, but you get my drift:) I always wanted to wear glasses as a kid for fun too. I NEED to eat better but an hooked on peanut butter balls and MUST STOP. I have 10 lbs to lose and they won't come off that way! I had a pen pal for awhile and when I got to college and lived in the dorms, one of her best friends lived down the hall from me-totally random! Good for Layla, it is fun to write letters to a friend and get one in the mail.
ReplyDeleteI had a pen pal growing up, actually flew out to California to meet her!!! :) Such an experience!! Unfortunately we've lost touch, such is life!! :(
ReplyDeleteoh no hope yall dont have anymore ER visits. So glad to be back to reading your blog :)
ReplyDeleteGood for Layla for having a penpal! I also don't think those glasses look too big on her...they're very Mad Men/hipster in size.
ReplyDeleteOne of my dearest BFF's is a penpal that I've had since 13. She is so near and dear to my heart, and even was in my wedding, so I think it's wonderful Layla has one!
ReplyDeleteHibiscus tea! Yes! I've been making it several times a week because it's great for high blood pressure. Hibiscus is in nearly all of the Celestial Seasoning "Zinger" teas. Red Zinger is primarily hibiscus. Also, Tazo has a "Passion" tea which has a lot of hibiscus. Republic of Tea makes a plain hibiscus tea, but it's kind of pricy. What I do is buy dried hibiscus from our co-op, it's about $10 for a pound (compared to $12 for a can of Republic of Tea hibiscus tea bags) and I add about 1/2 -3/4 cup of the dried hibiscus to my regular tea as it steeps. I usually use decaf black tea, but have found some decaf green to try. Steep if for about ten minutes (taking out the tea bags at their regular time) and then proceed to make tea as usual. Sometimes I mix it with fruity teas from Celestial Seasonsings. You could probably just use about a 1/4 cup to give it a light hibiscus flavor, the 1/2-3/4 cup makes it pretty strong, but I make Hubby drink it for his blood pressure so I want it stronger.
End hibiscus rant. ;)
Um yeh Sarah is a Wackle a Doodle! Lasagna sounds amazing!!! The chicken salad at Zoe's is amazing too. I've never tried the tea. I'll have to do that.
ReplyDeleteHibiscus Tea: I bought the Tazo Passion tea. It is very expensive. Just six bags was almost $5! I found Davidson's hibiscus tea bags on Amazon for $12 for 100 bags plus shipping. Want to try them! I cant find the dried hibiscus locally where I live in Georgia!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog!!
