lunch date and yellow furniture

Today was the first Monday Gary has had off in a few weeks, so when the kids headed to school we decided to run errands.  We enjoyed a taco lunch at Tin Lizzy's.  I enjoyed my Southern Comfort chicken taco topped with fried pickles.  Also the grilled shrimp with slaw and pumpkin seeds was on point too.  We dropped by the PGA superstore to do some golf exploring and then headed to Home Depot.

Gary and I have been working so hard on our back yard.  We have half a million trees back there and we've been working to clear the yard to make it more fun and enjoyable.  We knew we wanted to get our fire-pit area ready for fall and so we took the rest of the afternoon today to mess around in the back yard.

Gary did most of the work, because I'm shaky from the steroid pills I'm taking, but I'm getting better with my itching.  I'll take any improvements on my skin itches!  Poison Oak is no joke, but I'm thankfully getting much better.

I love the yellow and how it is bright and colorful.  We have so many sticks we gathered and we really need to burn those stacks.  We should be able to have some great bonfires while watching football!!  I love fall!!

We had a nice end to the busy month of August!  I'm excited about fall and all it brings when it comes to nature in Georgia.  Oh the leaves we'll see!

doozie of an itchy week

It seems like lately Friday evenings are my favorite blog time.  I'm doing good at recapping all our week full of stuff.

Monday found Hayden super itchy and with a horrible yucky rash all over his face.  We started an antibiotic for him and he still has red on his face, but the peely flaky rash is gone.  Thank goodness.  He still had a red face on Wednesday and that just happen to be school portrait day.  Good grief.  What gives? LOL!

Hayden didn't actually feel bad, so he was kind of going out of his mind buy Monday afternoon.  We read books, and played video games and snuggled and by the time Layla got home he was driving Lego cars on Lily's sleeping body.  He begged me to go play outside, but when he sweats it makes his face worse.  Eczema is no freakin' joke y'all.  Just when I feel like we have it all figured out, something new comes up with him and his skin.  We are learning and praying someday soon he will outgrow his dermatitis.

I woke up Monday with a touch of poison something.  I didn't know what it was at first so I took a roller-ball of essential oils to my arm all day Monday.  Well looking back that wasn't the best idea.  The roller ball is now in the trash can and I have it all over and it got much worse than this photo. (you'll thank me for not posting a recent nasty pic)  I'm pretty sure I spread it and scratched it spreading it more.  I can make myself not scratch all day long, but I'm a total night scratcher.  I wake up scratching and then I can't go back to sleep.  Even with benadryl.  I look like a mess and feel the same.  I have it on both arms, my neck, face and ears.  I have it in my belly button and a touch on my foot.

I now know that I got it on Saturday while trimming a few branches from an oak tree in the front yard.  Gary had this new trimmer tool from our neighbor and I said, "We should trim these low branches real quick, you cut and I'll bag them!"  BAD IDEA ANGIE.  Gosh I'm so mad at myself and I HURT!  Lesson learned there for sure!

Tuesday and Wednesday are blur days for me because I was so itchy and sleep deprived.  The kids busted out planks on Wednesday night and I cracked up at Daisy.  She looks like their planking coach.

Thursday night Gary got home and the angels were singing.  The kids were so happy to see their daddy and have someone home that wasn't so cranky and itchy.  Hayden gladly carried Gary's bag into the house!

Lily was happy to see dad home too and all the dogs and all the kids had a wrestle party in the basement.  I watched because no one wants to touch me lately.  hahaha!

Gary got one look at me Thursday when he got home and told me to head to the doctor on Friday morning.  You see, I tend to be an over reactor.  At times I have a little bit of hypochondriac in me.  I thought maybe I was just being a wiener and I really thought I could get better with some of Hayden's steroid cream.  Well, I was wrong.  The doctor and the nurse were nicely grossed out by me and I got a shot in the butt and and a pill and they sent me home to bed.
I don't know if I've ever had a steroid shot, but whooaa it was wild.  I felt queasy and out of it for about 15 minutes in the the doctors office.  I also took a high dose of prescription benadryl {that was the pill} and that mixed with she shot made me coo-coo.  I drove straight home, ate a sandwich and slept until the bus dropped the kids off.
I'm thankful for modern medicine fixing me up, but I have a sensitive system when it comes to drugs.  I swear I was seeing purple elephants floating on clouds.  I'm not looking forward to the upcoming prednizone doses, but I'm also thankful the purple elephants have left my mind. LOL!  I've taken prednizone before and it makes me clean house and organize like a mad woman. If you need me in the next 15 days I'll be cleaning and eating the house down.

We broke our Friday night dinner out habit and stayed home since I was out of it.  We played a game of family monopoly and Daisy Mae was my broker.  She knew I needed help counting my money.  Seriously, she just laid right on my stuff.  These goofy dogs.  They're the best!  Hopefully I got through this post without to many run on sentances and garbldy-goop!  Have a good weekend! ;-)

It's Friday once again!

We made it through another school week here in Georgia!

Rice crispy treats are the best way to start the weekend!  I'm going to try not to eat the whole pan, but I always end up eating 5 or 6 of these things until my tummy hurts and then I don't want any more.

Gary and I had the same idea for dinner.  We haven't had Mexican in ages, so we hit up our favorite spot and it didn't make me sad.  It's so good every time!

We had an early dinner and there was still tons of day light, so Layla met up with a few friends.  I decided to take a walk with Hayden and be nosey.  Just my opinion, but kids think they have the best plans, but then come to find out they are at another friends house and this momma can't handle that.   The texting and planning don't come across as they should and confusion is like whoooaa!  {I know I know, as kids we used to leave our houses at 8 am on a Saturday and not come back until dinner time.}  I'm not down with that.  I watch to many news shows and see too many kidnapping cases.  If I can keep up with my kiddos and feel comfortable that is for the better.  The second I can't find someone and I'll go all kinds of DRAMATIC on everyone.  My kids know the drama side of their momma and they prefer me more calm.   I'm thankful for mom friends in the neighborhood that I can text to keep track of ALL our kiddos.  I want to give Layla a little independence, but seriously she's 10 not 16.  We will find a balance in this area, but it will take time and trust on all our part.

This is exactly what I think of Friday night.  The week is done and emotions are always high.  Tears happen and eyes get glazed over tired from the past weeks activities.  I love easy relaxing Fridays because they are so very NEEDED!

Saturday funday!

The kiddos have been playing with the neighborhood kids a lot lately!  They usually all ride scooters and bikes up and down the sidewalk and write on the driveway with chalk.  They also try new stunts on their toys and make me nervous.  LOL!  They're little stunt people.

Saturday night  the adults were cracking up at all four of these sillies on their devices.  All their  faces are lit up and giggles filled the driveway.

Boys and their foot races....good golly.  Gary joined in too.  I'm  not supposed to tell, but he pulled a muscle in his leg! ;-)  He won the races though!

We ended the night with fireworks!

Weekends rock!

2nd week of school celebration

The kiddos survived their second full week of school, so we decided to treat them to a dinner out!  We jumped in the Jeep and off we went.  You know crazy momma had to take a selfie!

These pictures are courtesy of the iphone self timer app!

Hayden and his faces.  sigh.  Every single picture we take he is making some kind of goofy face.

We ate a new to us restaurant called Henry's in downton Acworth.  We ordered calamari and hush puppies as appetizers.  Their hush puppies are to die for and I could have eatten the entire basket.  I ordered blackened catfish on a bed of jambalaya.  Hayden settled for chicken strips, but he did tell the server they were the best he'd ever had.  Layla had penne pasta with Alfredo sauce.  Gary had some amazing looking dish with cream sauce filled with chicken.  The atmosphere was amazing and it was definitely kid friendly, as it was so loud in there.   We had a fun night out and left for home happy and full!

read read and read

Wow.

The kids are back into the groove of school after this fourth day.  They seem to be adjusting to their new schedules quite well.

For Hayden second grade is all about reading.  He has to read so much and he's not really a fan of reading.  BUT he's doing it and not complaining too much!  Layla has to read for 20 minutes every day also.  I enjoy a little quiet time after homework and snacks, so the reading in a nice little chill time before the chaos of dinner preparation starts.

P.S.  Why oh why dont' they like reading?  I'd sit and read all day long if I could.

These two are ready for their first day of 5th grade and 2nd grade!

I can't wait to see their cute faces when they get off the bus this afternoon!

selfie stick fun

Layla got a selfie stick today and we're having so much fun with it.  I think I caught Gary mid-french fry, chewing!  We had a cheeseburger dinner at one of our favorite places and I thought we should selfie it!

We are loving having the Jeep top and doors off.  We could never cruise around Texas in a Jeep in August.  Georgia has a wonderful climate.  I get hot, but NOTHING like Texas heat.  I'm loving this state!

After dinner we decided to bust out the 'props' that came with the selfie stick.  There are tons of hats and lips and glasses to play with.  I love Layla's new toy!

We had a fun weekend of  normalcy.  We have been so busy and the whole month of July felt like a whirlwind.  I still can't believe school starts Monday.  Yes, August 3rd!  It's crazy early, but we get a fall break, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, a winter break and also spring break.  I think starting early is ok after knowing we can enjoy a few extra weeks off here and there!
